Even when the batteries are agm or gel based the area where they are housed still needs to be regularly checked as the metal parts close to the batteries may suffer corrosion.
When it comes to rv battery maintenance you should also periodically clean any metal parts near your rv batteries because these too may suffer corrosion.

The corrosion seems to be more on the house battery side of the compartment.
Some commonly affected parts are folding staircases electrical harnesses brake lines battery terminals and other chassis elemen.
My newmar is a dp and my engine batteries are very well vented plus they are sealed units so never any corrosion there.
